Background :
The story starts back in 1998, when the lead guitarist / composer and the Producer Nabeel Nihal Chishty of the band Aaroh, came back to Pakistan from states. Highly skilled individual met his old friend Kamran Khan who was working as a leading Producer in the music industry with giants such as Junaid Jamshed and Shoaib Mansoor. Kamran Khan, who already had depth and experience after working with such senior producers of Pakistan introduced Nabeel as a leading guitar player in the music industry. Both formed a team and started working to produce together artists such as Schehzad Mughul and Junaid Jamshed. The team proved to be a success and they started to gain experience and recognition among skilled musicians of Pakistan. The aim of both musicians as they were truly skilled in their technicality, decided to form a band together and do a fusion guitar oriented instrumental album in 1999. During that phase , both were working with Junaid Jamshed to produce his last album ‘Dil kee Baat “ . Kamran went to the neighboring country India , having demos of the instrumental album and finally got a deal for two instrumental albums ( double cd ) from one of the biggest label of India called TIMES MUSIC . At that time, both decided to name the band from one of the biggest Producers in Pakistan Shoaib Mansoor . Shoaib Mansoor , after listening to their creativity and music which was fused in eastern and western classical , named their band as “Aaroh “ . That was the time when Aaroh was formed as a band between the two individuals Nabeel and Kamran . Nabeel having lot of song compositions , was also working to produce a vocal album too but having no efficient vocalist around , songwriting being completed, Aaroh was waiting for a proper vocalist to sing their melody in a way they have composed .Having a good repo in India , Kamran had an idea to introduce an Indian Vocalist in Pakistan and after the query with the Record label, they offered Aaroh an Indian Vocalist to work with and produce their vocal album . The vocalist was auditioned by Kamran in India and was near to be final in the band to sing all the songs but due to Indo –Pak bad relations , borders were closed and the chance of having a mature vocalist to sing their songs , was gone . both were left with the option to now select someone here singing upto their requirement . they started doing auditions .A vocalist Junaid who previously had band Saanwal back in 1993 was approached by the two but as Junaid was not doing music at that time , both were left with option to select a new talent , groom him and make him upto the professional standards for their sound . Ahmed Jehanzeb , another talented vocalist was considered but due to his vision of doing music as a solo career and not interested in the band , they move forward in search for another one . There , Nabeel introduced Kami to his friend Farooq Ahmed , who was studying with him In University and used to sing cover song sometimes with Nabeel in College concerts . Kamran and Nabeel auditioned Farooq who was an amateur singer at that time .Kamran was a bit spectacle about Farooq bringing in to Aaroh but Nabeel forced kamran to give farooq a chance as a friend , a new talent and re-think to induct farooq in and groom him later on upto their standards . The first experiment did not really went well when Farooq sung the first version of Sawal .Having short of time and being put aside , they gave a vision to Farooq if he can work hard , they will induct him in Aaroh as a lead vocalist . Farooq was made clear at the very start that Aaroh was Nabeel and Kamran’s project and he have to follow what they will tell . That was agreed by Farooq at that time as he was a new comer and he himself wanted to work with senior producers in the music field . After the hard work of 4 consecutive months , Farooq improved due to live performances and sessions with Nabeel and was made to sing the songs again . Much improved than before , Kami sent the tracks back to India to consider the vocalist and give them the advice to launch the band in India first .Having tight relations and not being possible to be released in India , they got an opportunity to send their demos in BOB that was taking place in khi .band got selected ,new songs were made by the two and Farooq was made to do vocals on the tracks . Finally hard work paid off and Aaroh won BoB. To complete the band , now they started looking around to induct a bass player and the drummer in the band for live concerts. khalid who was brought in Aaroh before Bob by Nabeel as a studio session player only and was payed to just play bass in the tracks was re-considered after the BOB and was offered to join them .Khalid having an offer from a band who was backed up by the biggest sponsor in Pakistan , was keen to join Aaroh .At the same time through out 2003, he was still playing with another band called Mizraab.Nabeel and kamran never objected on the fact as they believe that to bound a musician to play music with other musicians is the worst thing to do with one. Nabeel then brought in Jason on drums and introduced him to the rest of the band members as a session musician . in this way nabeel and kamran achieved their goal to make a band capable of doing live shows and music by their standards . Nabeel as being the producer of the band , started to record the songs that were already composed 1 year back prior to induction of the rest of the three guys . Nabeel and kamran decided to now focus on the vocal album only and put aside their instrumental album for the time being .
Two of the already composed tracks of the instrumental album that nabeel and kamran was doing , were selected and were converted into songs by just creating melodies and putting words which turned out to be Na Kaho and Dunya .Nabeel alone , worked hard , composed , wrote the lyrics , arranged , recorded , mixed ,engineered and made Khalid and Farooq sang all the tracks on his personal home studio and finally cut the whole album alone with his effort . Now Kamran as an experienced person in the industry managed to take Aaroh further from this point by bringing the deal from record labels in Pakistan , United States of America and India . Kamran marketed the band by airing the videos on different channels , and managing all the out door work for the band .
This was a detail history of how Aaroh was formed by the two and was brought upto the height where the rest of the team members were standing side by side sharing equal benefit of recognition and money . The band members were given equal shares from all the live gigs despite the fact that the effort was totally done by Nabeel and Kamran .
Recent Scenario :
As the band ascends , problems started to come along which every band faces but Nabeel sorted them out wisely between the band members. Apart from little conflicts , Nabeel and Kamran managed the band with a very dedicated and sincere manager Kashif who was working hard and professionally as a team to make aaroh more stronger .
Lack of jams and practices with Farooq, his repeatedly claims to go solo , missing of concerts due to Farooq , made the band felt to bring another session musician Rahat on backing vocals and flute to make the lineup more stronger .Rahat also did backing vocals as a session musician in the album specially in the song Jeeyay (the national song of aaroh) . things were fine uptil here until Farooq developed a distance with Rahat too who was also a trained classical singer and nephew of Ustad Shaukat Ali.
In the meanwhile along with Aaroh , Nabeel and Kamran also focused on their aim to continue their carreer as music producers from where they started back the journey of Aaroh in 1999 .They were offered to do an international project individually and this time both decided to give Rahat a chance to sing as to introduce him as a new talent .Due to personal conflicts of Farooq with Rahat , Farooq decided to leave the band . Nabeel approached Farooq to re-considered the fact that it was their personal project and they never tried to degrade him by introducing Rahat to sing one song , Farooq did not listened to anything and kept on stating that farooq have left the band . Nabeel and Kamran insisted him not to leave the band as they can make him sing the track as well if he wants to , Farooq was not ready to listen due to the conflict with Rahat .Nabeel and Kamran waited as they were thinking Farooq was tempered with the fact that why we did a project with Rahat and he wil come back showing the level of maturity and sensibility , they never made it public that Farooq left the band or something bad happened to the band because that will affect the band hype and professionalism.
Without telling any of the two formers of the band who were actually Nabeel and Kamran and who actually brought in Farooq in the band , Farooq did a press conference in private with the media and stated that he is introducing the new line-up of the band and Nabeel and Kamran both are out of the band . When Kamran got a call form FM 101 and he was literally shocked by the fact that Farooq was on air stating that Nabeel and Kamran are out of the band , both went to Farooq’s house , shook hands with him and the press media and offered him to forget all the differences and work as one unit again .when he still neglected to talk to them and went inside , Nabeel and kamran showed the press all legal documents showing Aaroh as their legal property .
Farooq is still trying to claim through legal advisors and fake documents that Aaroh is his property keeping aside all the previous friendships and commitments with Nabeel and kamran who are the actual owner of the band and actually inducted Farooq in the band .The credits are given on the cd and each and every credit of the band member is stated over there .One can easily identify whose 90% of effort was there to bring this band on heights .Most infact all of the songs and effort is of Nabeel. His old compositions which were made to sing by Farooq and now he is claiming that all the music work is his property and not Nabeel’s or kamran’s work.
This is not humanity with someone who deals with sincerity these days . We want all the press media to support us and show these kinda people that support for the truth is still here .IF press won’t take a serious action against this, in future , media ,infact in every field these kinda things will happen and talented musicians and producers such as Nabeel and Kamran will be put to waste .We can provide legal documents showing that Aaroh is Nabeel and Kamran’s legal property and a known figure such as SHOAIB MANSOOR is the biggest proof to state this fact .
