Review of "Shauq" by DJ Aphlatoon

I came across DJ Aphlatoon's music when I heard the samples on muziq.net. I started searching on the net and found that I can buy the CD on pakhits. Well I live in Tennessee and it's not easy to buy Pakistani music in stores. Anyways, I bought the CD and here is the review.

The CD had 22 tracks! The intro is pretty good with arabic tunes remixed with Eric sermon's song 'music' and also the guitar by Junoon. Next is Majajani by Abrar, it's pretty old but ok remix. Then comes "the beginning", first Pakistani hip hop song? nice effort with a Paki touch in it. At number 4 is Fakhir's remix of Marjawan, this is my favorite remix and I heard it so many times and still listening..lol Then comes 'Judai', it don't sound like a remix but a nice song with melodious beat. Next is another one of my favorite 'pop maleeda' this remix is like 3 minutes long and is a mixture of songs by Haroon, Jawad, Abrar and Junoon. That's why the name "maleeda" :-)

I also liked the remix of Humera Arshad's 'Mein nain boldi' but it's remixed with another punjabi song, I think it could've been better if dj had remixed only Humera's song. At number 8 is my favorite song by Carlos Santana remixed with some old paki song, well I only listened to it because I like santana..lol...Next is a remix of Ahmed Jahanzeb, which is not that good but ok. At number 10 is the remix of Jawad's hit song 'Bin tere kya hai jeena', I'm sorry I like the original better. Next is 'Aankhain' by Nazia Hassan which is a weird remix..lol..i don't know what it's supposed to be. Fakhir's remix of 'dil ki baaten' is done nicely with good bass. Then comes two tracks 'arabian sounds' and 'raag aphlatooni', one gets a feeling that these tracks were just forced to be in the CD. Including track 15 'asman ko laganay hath', another weird remix.

Vital Sign's song 'Yeh Shaam' was my favorite song and I didn't even like the remix that Junaid did in his remix album then why should I like this version? Following are some other remixed of old paki songs and then a Dedication song to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan which I liked and is nicely remixed. Next is the remix of 'Sama Hai Yeh Mastanaa' from his new album Mehndi. I didn't know that Jawad copy another song to make his song but dj aphlatoon actually remixed the song with the original song which is Italian I think? Then is outro to shauq and the CD is done.

I think that the whole cd was not a bad effort from dj aphlatoon (considering that this is his first cd). Hopefully his next remix cd will be better than this done.
