Review of Shahzad Haroon's Album "Aghaaz".

Before I even got to listen to his CD, I was already impressed by him. After all, Shahzad did the writing, composition and singing in his alubm. Ok, I will be honest. When I was given Shahzad's CD for a review, I had never heard of this guy before. But as I heard the CD, I wrote this review.

The album starts with the song "Saajna" also mentioned on the front cover. It's a slow song which makes you sing along with it's melodious beat. Nice echo effects and tabla is used in this song. I don't know if it's a fact but when I was listening to this song I got a feeling that I'm listening to Strings, specially during the "Saajna" part. I'm not saying the song is a copy of another song but it sounds like "Duur" by Strings, but only the Saajna part not the whole song. This shows us how talented Shahzad really is.

The next song is another slow song titled "Tum Suno". It took be back to the nineties when a lot of bands were coming out with songs. This is a kind of song that they were making in nineties.
Next is "Jaana", another song that gave me a flash back to nineties. It's a good composition, considering the fact that it was composed by a solo artist and not by a band.
"Dil Main Tum" is the forth track in the album. It starts with a good vibrated beat. It's another slow song and I'm getting bored of slow songs. It sounds like Shahzad sung it from his heart and not from the mind.
Now comes the song that I really liked in this album. It goes like "Sohniye, Heeriye" but for some strange reason it's titled "Sodiyaay". Anyways, this song really brought me to a dancy mood. Nice effects and Shahzad almost sounds like an earlier version of Ali Haider in this song.
The sixth track is "Chori Chori". In this song Shahzad experimented with the lost art of Pakistani rap. It was first done by the band 'Jupiters' and many other artists tried their luck with it. But not success. I guess rap was meant to be in English only. The song is not bad itself, the tabla makes it a upbeat song.

Next we come to "Tu Jo Mila". Another slow song but with good lyrics. Again it sounds like Shahzad is singing from the heart.
Numero Ocho (#8) is "Ladhki". The song started and I got the feeling that I'm listening to "Main Na Maanu Haar" by the band 'Awaz'. Again nice echo effects used in this song.
Next is "Pyar", another slow song with the tabla. Good lyrics and good effects make it worth listening to.
"Yaadein" another slow song. It Takes me back to the time of "Aamir Saleem".
Last is "Raag Trance", a very good effort by Shahzad. There is no doubt that he is a good composer may be a great one.

I enjoyed listening to this CD and would probably listen to the songs "Saajna", "Sodiyaay", "Pyar" one more time. As I do that, you also go ahead and enjoy the music by Shahzad Haroon.
